The Canadian oil and gas industry has been collecting vast volumes of data for over 50 years. This data, which spans all corporate disciplines, is comprised of both public and
proprietary data sets that exist on a variety of different platforms, in numerous physical locations. The challenge presented to Labrador Technologies, by petroleum companies in Canada, was to integrate all of their
corporate data, including, well production, reserves, land agreement, seismic, pipeline, and financial data, so it could be accessed through a single software solution, across the web - available anywhere, anytime. The data had to be real-time, and the application had to be easy enough that anyone in the organization could ask any query, and request any report, without any assistance from I.T. The application had to seamlessly integrate with a broad range of other products, including discipline specific products and more common desktop applications such as MS Excel. And in addition to all of the above, the data had to be accessible from anywhere - office, home, well-site, car, hotel - using a common BlackBerry™, Treo™, or any other mobile handheld device.
Labrador eTriever™ is a secure, web-based, generic data retriever. It will offer its users the proven strengths of LTI's dynamic Labrador query engine to access the most current data available, with all of the compelling features of the Web 2.0 framework, widely popularized through Googles™'s remarkable successes. As a web-based offering, eTriever™ requires no installation, no CD updates, and no maintenance, while providing comprehensive query, reporting, and exporting capabilities. eTriever™'s web environment is simple, elegant, swift, and intuitive. The first major purpose for Labrador eTriever™ is to add value to Calgary's oil and gas Data Centers. Importantly, eTriever is designed to complement the non-web, but well-established, oil and gas software products, such as geoLOGIC's geoSCOUT™. In this regard, the first release of Labrador eTriever™, available January of 2006, will be in cooperation with the recent creation of the geoLOGIC Data Center (gDC), offering geoLOGIC's highly regarded data, for the first time, in an "open database environment".
With the inital version of eTriever™ just recently launched, Labrador is well on its way to meeting all of the data retrieval requirements of the Canadian oil and gas market by aggressively, and incremently developing its eTriever™ product. Upon request, LTI also plans to use its Labrador Modeller™ software to incorporate the proprietary data stores of individual clients within eTriever™'s "web" of accessibility.
